Suddenly I feel like something's slightly strange
I no longer feel those familiar chains
I begin to wonder what this should mean to me
Then comes the voice in my ear:
"You're free"
I protest to him that I was never bound
Still he beckons me to stand and look around
Yet I can see the shapes and call them all by name
Then he laughs and says,
"You think there's truth in that game?
But I know the way to leave The Cave
I can show you the way, your soul to save
Freedom only comes once you leave this place
So you can find your way, and you can leave The Cave"
I try to shut him out and let him keep those claims
But it makes no difference and, to him, it's just the same
He smiles and says, "It's time to leave this world behind"
No second chance to speak my mind
"Come," he says to me
"Come and you'll be free"
"Come and see the truth you've never known"
But I don't understand; what could be wrong?
Still he leads me on and on
